Moving Trucks : Tricks For Trucks
DIY projects are always more cumbersome than delegating and assigning the work to someone else. When this thought is applied to moving, you get a maybe, maybe not kind of answer. Moving trucks can be a boon or bane to your moving process depending on how you look at it and what your needs are.
How do moving trucks help?
- Cost: They are extremely cost-effective and can save you a lot of money when you compare costs with professional movers.
- Convenience: You decide when and how to move.
- Control: You have complete control on the moving process; you decide everything from packing to loading to driving to relocating safely. Everything falls into your concept of an ideal move plan. You decide everything. You run the show.
- However these three C’s also come with certain T’s.
- Trial and Error: Moving trucks do not come with a trial and error option. You make one mistake on the road and you have had it. Driving a truck and driving a car are two different things.
- Towing hassles: If you want to take your car with you then you need to tow it along or else send it through auto transport. Towing a vehicle is extremely difficult and you need to be able to drive safely to your destination.
- Tiredness: Fatigue is common when traveling great distances by road. Some
moving trucks come with sleeper cabins; if your truck comes with a sleeper cabin, it helps, for you can take a shut eye. Also packing, loading, driving etc are quite tiring if you are doing everything by yourself.
Let me now give you some T’s to help you experience the C’s without hassle. Here are my TIPS for a great move with moving trucks.
- Grab plenty of shut-eye on the day prior to the move. See that you have finished your packing at least two days before the day of the move.
- Check your mirrors frequently and see that you have a good view of the road while driving your moving truck
- Stick to the right lane. You are not a professional truck driver, better slow than never. Moving trucks are not as easy to drive as compared to cars and it is better to be in the right lane and drive safely.
- Turn wide: Moving trucks require larger radii of turning; see that you keep this in mind when negotiating a turn on the road.
- Look around: Street signs are important. Different ones apply for moving trucks than the ones for cars. Look around for these.
- Take Breaks. Take several rests along the way. This will minimize fatigue and you will reach your destination more safely and quickly. Remember the woodcutter who sharpened his axe frequently was the one who worked more efficiently with less fatigue.
- Start with a full tank and an empty bladder: When starting out, see that your moving truck is fueled adequately and you have visited the bathroom. Do not drink too much water before starting. Parking a truck is a headache, so you do not want to make a rest stop soon after starting.
- Pray: Always before starting out. It is nice to begin your entire process of relocating by seeking the Almighty’s blessings.
- Check tire condition before starting out. Having a blow out on the road is a risky affair. Solving breakdown problems with moving trucks takes a lot of time and energy and causes a lot of stress. Hence check that your truck is in proper working condition with good tires before starting out.
Check that you have all your necessary papers before starting out. See that your truck is covered with insurance.
